A HOLLIS 4th: From Parade to Pool to Fireworks!

A HOLLIS 4th: From Parade to Pool to Fireworks!

A peek into our family’s favorite summer day in Round Top

Hi friends,

The 4th of July has always been one of those days that reminds me what matters most—family, traditions, and slowing down for the little things.

For us, the day starts in Round Top, a small Texas town that somehow makes the 4th feel like a scene from a movie. The parade rolls through the square, full of old trucks, handmade signs, and kids waving from trailers. We grab donuts and coffee on the way, set out our folding chairs early, and wave at every float like it’s the first one we’ve ever seen.

I pack up our Blue Floral Ruffle Tote with the usual suspects—sunscreen, waters, snacks, and a few random toys that’ll end up in the street. I’ve used this tote for nearly everything this summer, and it’s become my go-to for busy mornings like this one.

An Afternoon by the Pool

Once the parade wraps, we head home and change into swimsuits. The kids jump straight into the pool while I start on a few easy 4th of July treats—think red-white-and-blue fruit kabobs and popsicles that melt too fast. We spend the rest of the afternoon outside, music playing, water splashing, and time somehow standing still.

The XL Pouch is my little sidekick through it all—holding extra swim diapers, bug spray, and all the poolside chaos. It keeps me organized even when everything around me is loud and sticky.

Ending the Day with Fireworks

After dinner, we dry off, toss on something comfy, and pile into the car to head back to my parents’. They live just far enough outside of town to get a full view of the night sky. We lay out blankets, pass around sparklers, and let the kids stay up way too late.

I keep my Bum Bag close with just the essentials—my phone, keys, and a few wet wipes. It’s easy, it’s light, and it lets me be present without juggling a hundred things in my hands.

Why Blue Floral Just Works

There’s something about this collection that fits the vibe of the whole day. It’s still practical—easy to wipe, easy to pack, cute to carry! It’s not just for “special occasions”—it’s for the days that become special when you look back.

However You’re Spending Your 4th…

I hope you find a little time to pause and soak it in—whatever that looks like for you. Whether it’s poolside with popsicles or under a sky full of fireworks, I hope it feels like home.

From my family to yours
Happy 4th of July 💙

XOXO,
Courtney
